The Horse is first and foremost in Mike Ferrara's mind. He believes what makes a good photo it that the horse should be well schooled, show groomed, and at ease with it's environment. The filming location should have a pleasing background without fences, electrical wires, trees and bushes in the "wrong places". Based on Mike's experiences, Ferrara says bright, colorful backgrounds are ideal. In fact, the greener, the better. Time of day (lighting) and weather conditions are also important. Early morning and late afternoon produce the most dramatic results, and you will want to avoid overcast, windy and rainy days and seasons.

Above all else, Mike strongly believes that the best farm shoot is one where everyone involved is patient and gives plenty of time for the perfect picture...that says a thousand words!
